Green Arusha Society

This project has been operated since 2002 in 15 primary schools in Arusha, Arumeru, and Monduli districts of Arusha region in Northern Tanzania, whereas each district has 5 primary schools as pilot projects in the areas respectively.

As well as youths, GAS has its focus on women, considering that women in rural communities are the most vulnerable group to various catastrophes including famine, war, shortage of water as well as fuel wood and ultimately need to travel a long distance searching for water and fuel wood for domestic requirements.

Green Arusha society, as an environmental stakeholder in the country, has been creating awareness at the third angle among the local people in the same 15 villages in the districts of Arusha, Arumeru and Monduli, each district with 5 villages as pilot areas.

As well as our various projects, under Environmental Friendship-Abroad Programme, we also host any people especially university student from abroad who are interested in visiting our country for educational purposes. We are happy to help them gain insight to environmental aspect of Tanzania as well as our efforts to conserve it.
